Staring contributes to the Fehmarnbelt tunnel – our largest pump delivery to date!

Since January 2021, Staring has been part of the ambitious Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link – the world’s longest immersed tunnel, connecting Denmark and Germany with an 18 km underwater link between Rødby and Puttgarden. The project consists of 89 tunnel elements and has a total budget of DKK 55.1 billion.

At the main construction site in Rødbyhavn, tunnel elements are cast and prepared for towing. Adjusting water levels in large basins is a key part of moving these elements, requiring an enormous pumping capacity to ensure smooth and safe operations.

A mobile high-capacity pump system
For Femern Link Contractors, and in close partnership with Tsurumi, we supplied a mobile pump installation with 8 × 10″ 22 kW pumps. Together, they can move up to 96,000 litres of water per minute. The system is designed for extreme performance and reliable operation, enabling precise water level management when the tunnel elements are floated and positioned.
