Staring through the years

  • 1962
Staring was founded in 1962 on Staringvej in Brønderslev, where the company is still located today. The founder, Helmer Larsen, was at the time employed at Pedershaab but wished to strike out on his own.
  • 1971
Helmer’s first product was a 150-litre drum mixer, and in 1971 STARING produced its first forced mixer – a milestone that would prove crucial for the company’s future. The product range expanded, and Staring quickly became known as a reliable supplier of robust mixers, which soon found their way to construction sites across the country.
  • 1986
Helmer Larsen sells the company to IM Stiholt A/S in Sæby. STARING continues as before, while the change of ownership brings new resources for growth and further development of the product range.
  • 1990
STARING acquires Cementstøberiernes Redskabsforsyning (CR) in Brønderslev, adding new products and expertise to the portfolio. In the same year, STARING becomes the exclusive distributor of the Japanese pump brand TSURUMI – a challenge at a time when Japanese products had a reputation for poor quality, but one that would soon change dramatically.
  • 1992
STARING and CR merge, bringing production and development together under one roof at new facilities on Staringvej in Brønderslev.
  • 2000
Innovation and development characterize the years around the turn of the millennium. Among other projects, STARING develops the NH4+ acidification system for slurry in agriculture.
  • 2004
The company is divided into two business areas: STARING Maskinfabrik A/S under IM Stiholt A/S and Staring Miljø A/S with Grundfos among the co-owners. Tommy Bredal is appointed director of both companies, while Michael Østergaard – now a co-owner – joins as purchasing manager.
  • 2007
STARING Maskinfabrik and Staring Miljø become independent companies. The environmental activities move to Aalborg under the new name INFARM A/S, owned 50/50 by Stiholt and Grundfos, while Staring Maskinfabrik continues to focus on the construction industry.
  • 2014
The company once again becomes independent and changes its name to STARING A/S. New owners – Leif Stiholt, Michael Østergaard, and Tommy Bredal – set the course for a modern company with a strong focus on quality and export. From being primarily a producer of mixers and plate compactors, STARING has grown to become a market leader in contractor pumps, mixers, tile cutters, ventilators, and more, with dehumidifiers and diamond tools also representing a significant share of the business.
  • 2016
Ownership is consolidated under Michael Østergaard and Tommy Bredal. With strong experience and commitment, they continue to lead the company based on the same core philosophy: reliable machines, close customer relations, and solutions that create value.
  • 2020
STARING A/S expands with new offices in Denmark, including Rødbyhavn near the Fehmarnbelt project, and strengthens its presence in Germany and Scandinavia. The product range grows, making the company a full-range supplier of machines and tools for construction, contractors, restoration, and rental companies. The patented VibFlow system sets new standards for efficient mixing. STARING successfully navigates both the financial and corona crises, expands its product program each year, and increases earnings. The company has also received several awards as a Successful Company.
  • TODAY
STARING continues to produce its own forced mixers in sizes up to 3,000 litres, while also supplying renowned international brands such as Tsurumi pumps and Rubi tile tools. The product range includes everything from diamond tools and conveyors to dehumidifiers and ventilators. With four sales representatives in Denmark and a growing team in Brønderslev, the company is more dynamic than ever – still driven by the same mission: to create a better workday.
